As part of our ongoing series of posters and publications for the Keepers of the Water, Wilton+Wark has designed the poster for the 2015 Keepers of the Water Watershed Gathering.

Norine Wark has received the presentation award at the Athabasca University Education Innovation and Research Symposium 2015 for her work on FRAMEing 21st Century Graduate Attributes: Conceptualizing a research proposal on mobile learning and work. EIRS focuses on tools and approaches for technology-supported teaching at a distance.

A new research overview site for Learning to Learn Online, Athabasca University's first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), has launched in coordination with the presentation of two academic posters at the MOOCs in Scandinavia Conference. The site and both posters were developed by Dan Wilton, who was also web and visual designer for the course and is involved in initial data analysis for the research phase of the project.

Wilton+Wark has developed a new site for Roca Surfacing and Tee-Son Hauling, a road and highway surfacing and hauling firm in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Keepers of the Bees, a companion site developed by Wilton+Wark for the book by Karen Godbout and Christina Yahn, provides resources and audio interviews of featured beekeepers of the Kootenays.

Wilton+Wark has prepared a poster and annual report for the Athabasca Watershed Council's Annual General Meeting.

Dan Wilton spoke as part of an expert panel on conceptual issues in mapping open educational resources at the 2015 Open Education Global Conference in Banff, Alberta. The goal of the panel session was to ensure that those engaged in mapping projects for OER have a better understanding of the key issues and decisions in mapping OER around the globe.

Athabasca University has released its Open Studios website, developed by Dan Wilton. The site features video interviews and the artworks of established and emerging artists in Alberta.

Learning to Learn Online, Athabasca University's first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), has launched with over 1600 students from around the world. As part of the instructional design team, Dan Wilton provided visual and technical design and will continue to develop systems for research and analysis for this innovative course.

Norine Wark and Athabasca University have been asked by a Canadian firm to conduct independent evaluative research on advanced industrial training technologies featuring augmented reality. This new technology uses immersive 3D to provide innovative see-and-do skills training.

Dan Wilton has joined the instructional design team to develop a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) for Athabasca University. This innovative course, with an expected enrolment of hundreds of students, will launch in Spring 2015.

Dan Wilton has been asked to develop a new design for the International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning (IRRODL), a world-class, peer-reviewed academic journal for the distance education field.

The eMundus Atlas will be presented at the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) 2014 Conference at the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI) on September 26. The Atlas, developed by Dan Wilton for the eMundus Consortium and sponsored by the European Commission, is an online mapping and database application to capture and analyze collaborative activity in open educational resources around the world. It fulfills the first objective of the international eMundus project. This presentation and workshop session is titled "Map your Case of Collaboration through ICTs, OER, MOOCs and Virtual Mobility!"

The monthly series of online sessions hosted by Dan Wilton for the Canadian Institute of Distance Education Research at Athabasca University begins again on September 17. In this, our tenth anniversary season, we will be running a year-long seminar series on the Community of Inquiry framework.

Wilton+Wark has designed a new report for Alberta Climate Dialogue, a community-university research network to engage citizens in policymaking around climate change. Features of "Water in a Changing Climate" include a set of original infographics.

As part of its campaign to stop the Site C Dam in northern BC, the Peace Valley Environment Association commissioned Wilton+Wark to design a new website. With a tight deadline and budget, Wilton+Wark is proud to release this efficient, high-impact site.

Norine Wark, along with Drs. M. Ally and M. Cleveland-Innes, presented preliminary research findings into "Students' Use of Mobile Devices for Learning" at the first Beijing Normal University/Athabasca University Symposium in Edmonton, June 10-11, 2014. Department heads, selected professors, and doctoral students from the Beijing Normal University Distance Education and Research Department and the Education Institute of Beijing joined AU CDE faculty and doctoral students for this by-invitation inaugural symposium. The related study has now been published in a special issue of the European Journal of Open, Distance and E-Learning (EURODL).

Dan Wilton has been contracted by Athabasca University's eLab to develop an online portal to highlight emerging and established Canadian artists. Drawing first upon artist interviews and Athabasca's own digitized art collection, the Open Studios portal is intended to become a resource for art programs in colleges and schools.

As part of our ongoing work with the Keepers of the Water nonprofit organization to protect the waters and watersheds of northern Canada, Wilton+Wark has prepared a new poster for Keepers of the Water VIII, the 2014 Annual Watershed Gathering, along with a Keepers of the Water brochure.

Phase One of the eMundus Atlas, developed by Dan Wilton, was presented to an international audience April 22 in Llubljana, Slovenia during the Open CourseWare Consortium Global Conference. The Atlas, prepared for the eMundus Consortium of higher education institutions and sponsored by the European Commission, is a significant online mapping and database application to capture and analyze collaborative activity in open educational resources around the world.

Wilton+Wark have designed three key reports for the Oldman Watershed Council in southern Alberta, including their 2013-14 Headwaters Action Plan and Public Review.

Dan Wilton has been selected to provide web and mobile application development, information design, and research to map the world's open educational resources in a collaboration between UNESCO, Athabasca University, and the Education, Audiovisual & Cultural Executive Agency of the European Union. This important international initiative to build an interactive map for the global educational resource community will foster cooperation and provide greater access to valuable resources for learning across all regions of the world.

Norine Wark and her mobile research team have been declared finalists for the Best Paper Award at the Fall 2012 EDEN conference held in Leuven, Belgium. The team won eighth place for the presentation on the effect of the use of mobile devices on students' emotional presence in online learning environments. They have now been invited to submit a paper on the research behind the presentation, soon to be published in EURODL's Special Edition: Best of EDEN 2012.

The monthly series of online sessions hosted by Dan Wilton for the Canadian Institute of Distance Education Research at Athabasca University begins September 18. Speakers for this season include Drs. Terry Anderson, Thomas Carey, George Veletsianos, June Ahn and Leah Macfadyen. Dan also continues his role as site manager for the Institute with a new website in Athabasca University's Landing.

Wilton+Wark have developed a new poster for the Keepers VII Watershed Gatherings, the latest annual conference of Keepers working together to protect the northern waters of Canada. While this year's Gathering will be a smaller event than previously, it marks our sixth year of involvement with the Keepers of the Water and our fifth as the media development team.

Wilton+Wark delivered two instructional design packages for the Public Health Agency of Canada in Ottawa. These two courses deal with privacy issues and survey techniques for public health workers across Canada. In these instructional packages, Wilton+Wark carried out extensive revisions and restructuring of existing materials and supplemented them with new activity and evaluation components.

Wilton+Wark will join the coordination team for Keepers of the Water VI Watershed Gathering in Fort Nelson BC. This annual conference brings together First Nations leaders, scientists, and citizens. Beginning in the fall of 2011, Dan Wilton will be host for a monthly series of online sessions for the Canadian Institute of Distance Education Research at Athabasca University. These CIDER Sessions feature leading researchers from around the world, such as George Siemens, Steve Weiland, and Maggie Hartnett, presenting the latest findings in online learning and technology.

Norine Wark and Dan Wilton have joined the Keepers of the Water working group to help strengthen and guide this umbrella organization for Keepers groups around the Arctic Ocean Basin. Working alongside First Nations and environmental leaders, the group will clarify and promote Keepers resolutions and goals at a critical moment in the Keepers' evolution, as they prepare for the Keepers of the Water VI Watershed Gathering in 2012.
